The trial of a man accused of killing 16-year-old Turkish Cypriot Zehie Helin Reessur in the north in January is set to restart on June 20.

The trial of Sefer Buğra Altundağ had been adjourned since January with an inquest into the girl’s death taking place in Turkey.

Following the conclusion of the inquest as now concluded and the report has now arrived in the north, and as such the date of the next hearing has been set, with Altundağ set to appear in court in Trikomo next Tuesday.

Reessur’s body was found at a construction site in Trikomo in the early hours of January 25, with Altundağ having fled to the south through the Dherynia crossing point.

He presented himself to a police station later that day and was later transferred back to the north.
