According to the announcement, the central bank heads of Cyprus and Ireland engaged in substantial dialogues and exchanged ideas regarding possible solutions to address economic challenges while fortifying the resilience of their banking sectors and economies.

Aside from their discussions on international macroeconomic concerns, both governors underscored the significance of enhancing collaboration and widening communication between the Central Bank of Ireland and the Central Bank of Cyprus through the exchange of technical knowledge and expertise.

“Governor Makhlouf’s visit underscores our close relationship. The discussions we had contribute to creating new perspectives for tackling the challenges before us,” Herodotou said.

“We look forward to a deeper and mutually beneficial cooperation with the Central Bank of Ireland,” he added.

Meanwhile, governor Gabriel Makhlouf remarked that “it was my pleasure to visit Cyprus this week”.

“From one island to another, I welcome our close relationship and anticipate it will continue to thrive,” he added.

“I particularly enjoyed meeting with students during my visit and hope that one day we will welcome some of them as colleagues at the Central Bank of Ireland,” Makhlouf concluded.

The Central Bank of Cyprus statement concluded by saying that it “remains committed to strengthening ties with its international counterparts through constructive dialogue, knowledge exchange, and broader collaboration”.
