The Banker, one of the leading international publications focused on banking and finance, has named Bank of Cyprus (BoC) the Bank of the Year in Cyprus at its 2023 awards.

This award, for which the evaluation period ran from June 2022 to June 2023, is particularly important for BoC, as it recognises the milestones achieved over the past year, towards the completion of the Bank’s ten-year turnaround while expanding its digital offering to customers and delivering value to shareholders.

“Congratulations to the Bank of Cyprus for winning the Bank of the Year accolade,” said Banker editor Joy Macknight, on naming BoC the Bank of the Year in Cyprus.

“The bank has completed its transformation into a well-capitalised, diversified and sustainably profitable banking group, marked by the European Central Bank’s approval to restart dividend payments from its full-year 2022 earnings,” she continued.

“Additionally, as part of its ambitious digital transformation plan, the Bank of Cyprus has launched its innovative digital branch, Quickhub, and enabled digital onboarding of new customers.”

In turn, Bank of Cyprus CEO Panicos Nicolaou noted that “we are delighted to be named the Bank of the Year in Cyprus by renowned banking magazine”.

“This award is international recognition of the significant effort and commitment of our staff toward improving the services and products we offer to our customers, and supporting the local economy while creating value for shareholders,” he added.
