The Paphos Regional Tourism Board (Etap) has been selected among a group of 50 EU organisations to participate in a project focusing on crisis management and governance in tourism.

According to a statement released by Etap on Friday, a specialised workshop to prepare for the project took place on Thursday in Paphos.

It was attended by representatives from the deputy ministry of tourism, the Paphos municipality and chamber of commers and, the community of Kouklia and the Cyprus Agrotourism Organisation.

Under the guidance of Marianna Sigala, a professor at the University of Sheffield who led the workshop, participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding on crisis management and governance in tourism.

The workshop also facilitated an extensive exchange of ideas and suggestions regarding potential measures to enhance the structures and processes of tourism governance and destination resilience.

A preliminary risk assessment study and the drafting of a preliminary action plan for Paphos as a tourist destination are expected to be carried out in the upcoming weeks.
