Theatro Skala in Larnaca has shut down as is it is unsafe for use, the municipality announced on Friday.

Inspections carried out at the site revealed the building had stability issues.

Slated theatre productions have been cancelled at Theatro Skala, though arrangements have been made to feature them elsewhere, such as Oroklini theatre or Larnaca municipal theatre.

Tenders will be called to undertake renovations and make the building safe. It is not currently clear when Theatro Skala may open for production again.
