The visit of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Cyprus, was not only of symbolic importance but it was more one of substance, the presidency said in a post on X on Sunday.

“Yesterday’s historic visit by the Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the first Greek Prime Minister to attend the anniversary events to condemn the coup and the Turkish invasion, was not only of symbolic importance but more one of substance,” the post said.

It reflects, it added, “the level of relations between our two countries, the sincerity and mutual respect between two brotherly states, such as Greece and Cyprus”.

Mitsotakis was on the island on Saturday and attended an event at the presidential palace to mark 50 years since the invasion.
