A six-year-old child was left alone on a bus for around an hour after falling asleep on a school trip, police said on Thursday.
Larnaca police spokesman Spyros Chrysostomou explained that the child was attending summer school and had been on an excursion with other children attending the summer school.
“However, when the bus returned to the school and all the other children got off it, this particular child appears to have fallen asleep in his seat, and thus remained on board,” Chrysostomou said.
He added, “the information available to us states that the child was found on board the bus an hour later.”
“The incident was reported on Wednesday to the Larnaca police, and members of the team are investigating the circumstances under which the child was found on the bus an hour later,” he added.
He said the relevant government departments which deal with and organise summer schools have also been informed about the incident.
