A yellow warning for extreme maximum temperature has been issued on Tuesday by the Department of Meteorology in effect from 11am until 5 pm.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach 41C in the interior and 32C in the higher mountains.

The day will be mostly clear with some intermittent low clouds on the coasts and a chance of afternoon rains in the mountains. Temperatures will rise to 41C in the interior, 33C on the west and southwest coasts, 36C on the remaining coasts, and 32C in the higher mountains. Winds will be north- to south-easterly, locally south-westerly, light, 3 Beaufort, later turning south- to north-westerly, light to moderate, up to 4 Beaufort and up to on the south coast, strong, 5 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.

Overnight will remain clear with increased low cloud along the coast, particularly in the west and north. During the morning hours, light mist or fog may form particularly inland and in the southeast. Temperatures will drop to 24C on the west and southwest coasts, 25C in the interior and on the remaining coasts, and 21C in the higher mountains. Winds will initially be south- to north-westerly, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea will remain calm to slightly rough.

On Wednesday, the weather will remain clear with temporarily increased clouds and isolated rains or a storm in the mountains in the afternoon.

Similar conditions will prevail on Thursday while on Friday, the weather will be continue mostly clear with some cloudy periods.

Temperatures are not expected to change appreciably continuing to fluctuate above the average for the season.
