President Nikos Christodoulides met with President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday where they discussed cooperation in energy and infrastructure.

According to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis the meeting took place following an invitation extended by Mohamed to Christodoulides.

The two discussed promoting cooperation in the fields of energy and infrastructure, regional developments, further strengthening of bilateral relations and ways to accelerate their strategic relationship to achieve tangible results.

Also attending were Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, the director of the president’s diplomatic office Doros Venezis and Letymbiotis along with support staff.

On the UAE side, Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his deputy attended the meeting.

Christodoulides is expected to return to Cyprus on Thursday morning.
