The 20th Pink Figures March will be held on October 5, the breast cancer association Europa Donna Cyprus announced on Tuesday.

The march is being held under the auspices of EU Health Commissioner Stella Kyriakides.

The Pink Figures March will start at 5pm from Eleftheria Square in Nicosia and head to the AstroBank headquarters, where 782 figures will be placed symbolising the new cases of breast cancer in women recorded in 2023 in Cyprus.

Seven blue figures symbolising new cases of breast cancer in men and 226 turquoise figures symbolising new cases of ovarian or cervical cancer and another 239 white figures symbolising people who passed away in 2023 will also be placed.

“After claiming the right to life, this year we are moving going deeper and we ask everyone to remember another group of patients, patients with metastatic cancer, who are patients who have no cure, whose treatments are incessant and who are faced with a multitude of difficulties of a social, financial and psychological nature,” head of the Europa Donna Cyprus board Stella Mastora said.

“Europa Donna Cyprus, with the Pink Figures March, marks the launch of a campaign to raise awareness of the differences between early stage and metastatic cancer”.

She added that the primary goal “is to break the taboos about metastatic cancer and for metastatic patients to feel that they are not alone”.
