Traffic management measures are set to come into effect in Nicosia on Thursday and Friday, following decisions by the municipalities of Strovolos and Nicosia.

On Thursday, temporary traffic measures will be implemented due to the commercial development of the Jumbo store in the area between Strovolos and Aglandja.

These measures include the installation of traffic lights at the junction of Fytoriou Athalassas street and Limassol avenue.

Motorists will not be allowed to turn right from Fytoriou Athalassas street onto Limassol avenue. A statement released by the Strovolos municipality urged drivers to follow road signs and instructions as per the highway code.

On Friday, the Strovolos municipality will also introduce further traffic measures at the Kalamon roundabout, near the Nicosia general hospital, and along Limassol avenue.

Traffic lights will be installed at the roundabout and will operate during peak hours on weekdays and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Additionally, a Pelican pedestrian crossing will be installed on Limassol avenue near the new commercial development, which include the Jumbo store.

These measures, the statement added, are part of efforts to improve traffic flow and pedestrian safety in the area.
