A cat trapped for day in a tight space between two walls at Larnaca airport was rescued by the fire service, the Green party’s action group coordinator reported on Wednesday.
Although the airport’s managing company, Hermes, as well as the airport’s fire service had been contacted from the outset, they had initially been unable to extricate the cat for several days, due to the awkwardness of the spot where it was hiding.
In another coordinated effort on Tuesday the authorities finally succeeded in their mission to release the lucky feline.
Video footage showed the young black-and-white longhair perched high above a security camera, in a narrow gap criss-crossed by pipes, with only the glow of its eyes visible.
After the successful rescue, the Greens thanked the airport officials and management for their attention to the matter.
“The sensitivity to saving an animal is indicative of the respect we should always show to animals,” the Green party member said.
