Police in Limassol on Sunday evening arrested a 49-year-old man for a case involving repeatedly running into a 34-year-old woman with his vehicle.
The incident happened last Monday and the case was being investigated after it was brought to the Episkopi police station.
According to police, the woman filed a complaint stating that after dining at her residence with her roommate and the 49-year-old, and consuming alcohol, the latter tried to depart in his vehicle.
The woman attempted to prevent him from driving due to his intoxicated state, whereupon he allegedly started up his car and drove into her while she stood in front of it. After she fell to the ground, he allegedly backed up and hit her again.
The man left the scene, while the 34-year-old was taken by ambulance to Limassol general hospital, where medical examinations revealed that she had a fractured right leg. She received treatment and was discharged on the same day.
An warrant was issued against the 49-year-old, and he was arrested and taken into custody shortly before 6.30 pm on Sunday.
