Police arrested a 71-year-old on Monday evening in connection with two large cocaine-related cases, after he was located in Germany and handed over to the Cypriot authorities.
On May 13, 2022, a 58-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were arrested in Limassol for the possession of 2.5kg of cocaine. Limassol criminal court had sentenced the man to ten years in prison and the woman to three.
On May 27, 2022, a container at Limassol port was found to contain 6.5kg of cocaine, for which a 58-year-old was arrested and sentenced to 13 years in prison by the Limassol criminal court.
In both cases, a testimony was obtained against the 71-year-old, who was arrested in Germany in August.
On Monday he was sent to Cyprus and arrested.
He will be taken before the Limassol district court on Tuesday for a remand order.
Police are continuing investigations.
