The Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Evep) hosted a meeting on Friday with Liu Kai, the Commercial Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Cyprus, to explore potential collaborations between the two organisations.

The meeting, which also included the Paphos regional board of tourism (Etap) and representatives from local wineries, focused on strengthening business ties between Cyprus and China.

According to an official announcement released on Tuesday, George Mais, president of the Paphos Chamber of Commerce, expressed “gratitude to the counsellor for the ongoing cooperation”.

Discussions centred on various sectors, including tourism, dairy products, winemaking, and education, highlighting mutual opportunities for growth.

On his end, Liu Kai spoke about the “significant opportunities for Cypriot entrepreneurs in both imports and exports”.

He said there are plans for an upcoming trade fair in China dedicated to promoting exports, offering Cypriot businesses a platform to showcase their products to the Chinese market.

The meeting concluded with visits by the counsellor and Evep representatives to dairy production facilities and wineries in the Paphos region.
