Cyprus-based mobile gaming platform Skich has officially launched Skich Store, an alternative app marketplace designed to enhance game discovery and distribution for mobile gamers.

Built specifically to cater to players’ tastes, Skich Store offers a personalised experience that goes beyond traditional app marketplaces, positioning itself as a major disruptor in mobile game discovery.

Following Apple’s recent regulatory changes in the European Union, which allow alternative app stores to operate, Skich Store is accessible exclusively through its official website.

This shift has significantly boosted Skich’s web presence, attracting 100,000 organic visitors per month and growing at an average rate of 20 per cent.

This rapid growth has made Skich’s platform a critical driver of user acquisition and engagement.

The company explained that finding mobile games that match individual preferences has long been a challenge for players, while developers struggle with visibility in a saturated market.

Skich Store aims to tackle these issues with a comprehensive recommendation system that categorises games into 240 genres—14 times more than the App Store—ensuring players can discover titles suited to their interests.

A unique swipe-based discovery system, similar to dating apps, allows users to swipe right to save games they like and left to dismiss those that do not match their preferences.

Additionally, Skich integrates social features, including gamelists and recommendations from friends and like-minded players, creating a more interactive and engaging discovery experience.

Early user data indicates that 70 per cent of players who use Skich Store download at least one game, and users install two to five times more games per month compared to previous habits.

Originally launched as a game discovery app that redirected players to the App Store, Skich has evolved into a full-fledged alternative store while still maintaining its original functionality.

This allows developers to increase their exposure and provides players with seamless access to new games.

“Game discovery has remained a major challenge for players and developers alike,” said Sergey Budkovski, CEO of Skich.

“With AI making game production easier and competition fiercer, it’s time for a new approach,” he added.

“Skich Store,” he continued, “is not just another app marketplace—it is a platform designed specifically for gamers, making it easier than ever to find and enjoy new titles.”

The announcement also said that in terms of helping developers, Skich Store offers enhanced visibility beyond traditional ranking algorithms.

It mentioned that half of all users who visit a developer’s profile on the platform download at least one additional game from the same studio.

In addition, Skich provides dedicated profile pages and improved branding opportunities, allowing developers to build a stronger connection with their audience.

It should be noted that since 2022, Skich has secured $1.5 million in investment from GEM Capital to accelerate product development and expand its platform, reinforcing its commitment to reshaping mobile game distribution.

Skich Store is now available in Europe on iOS via its official website, with an Android version currently in development.

“The company is enhancing its platform to help developers better engage with players through dedicated profile pages and discovery features,” the company concluded.
