Greek President Konstantinos Tasoulas will be in Cyprus on Wednesday for a three-day visit, his first visit abroad since assuming office.
The visit is taking place by invitation of President Nikos Christodoulides, according to a press release issued by the office of the Presidency.
Tasoulas will arrive at the Presidential Palace in the afternoon, where he will be officially welcomed. The two leaders will meet privately, during which Christodoulides will award Tasoulas the Grand Collar of the Order of Makarios III.
Extended talks between the delegations of the two countries will then be followed by statements to the press.
In the evening, the Christodoulides will host a dinner in honor of the Greek president, at the Presidential Palace.
On May 8, the Tasoulas will visit Nicosia City Hall, where he will be welcomed by Mayor Charalambos Prountzos.
Thereafter, Tasoulas will visit the buffer zone accompanied by Christodoulides and the Greek forces (Eldyk) army camp in Malounda, as well as the “imprisoned graves” of EOKA fighters where he will lay a wreath.
Later, Tasoulas will be received by Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus.
The Greek president will also meet the President of the House, Annita Demetriou, and address the plenary, in the presence of Christodoulides.
On May 9, Tasoulas will visit the Makedonitissa Tomb to lay a wreath. Before departing he will hold separate meetings with organised groups and leaders of parliamentary parties.
