Companies in the ready-mix concrete sector in Cyprus met on Saturday, May 10, to formally re-register and relaunch its industry association.

According to an announcement released this week by the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (Keve), the event marked the adoption of a new charter and the establishment of a renewed framework.

These moves, the announcement explained, aim at “strengthening and upgrading the sector“.

During the meeting, participating companies reaffirmed the sector’s collective desire to maintain a single, institutionally recognised representative body to safeguard the interests of the ready-mix concrete industry.

The initiative comes in response to growing technical, environmental and economic challenges.

“The re-registration of the association signals a new beginning, grounded in solid principles and a renewed operational framework,” Keve said.

“The unity of its members and the recognition of the association’s longstanding contribution to institutional and technical matters are the foundation for continuing our work,” it added.

The chamber also said that the association is now re-established with a new charter that “ensures clear procedures, transparency and the active participation of its members”.

The decision to move forward under this updated framework was taken with the aim of “strengthening the association’s credibility and capacity to advocate effectively”, both with public authorities and within the broader business environment.

As part of the re-registration process, the new charter explicitly states that the association will not engage in or collectively address labour-related matters, including negotiations with trade unions.

These issues are now solely the responsibility of the individual member companies.

“The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry remains a steadfast institutional partner and supporter of the Association, offering advisory and organisational expertise to help advance the sector’s positions and strategy,” Keve stated.

“The aim of this renewed effort is for the ready-mix concrete manufacturers association to remain a point of reference for the responsible, sustainable and technically sound operation of the ready-mix concrete industry in Cyprus,” the statement concluded.
