Cyprus’ EU Presidency has postponed the informal council of ministers for European affairs, originally scheduled for March 2 and 3, as well as the informal council of culture, planned for March 5 and 6, after the island’s British Akrotiri air force base was struck by a drone amid the crisis in Iran.

In a statement on Monday, the Presidency said regional developments affected flights to Cyprus, preventing many participants from arriving, and that both meetings will be rescheduled.

It added that, “other meetings scheduled for this week will be held online”.

In cases of postponement, new dates will be set where possible and will be announced.

Earlier on Monday, the government postponed a planned meeting of the European general affairs council.
