The death of 28-year-old police officer Andreas Antoniou, killed in a traffic accident, in Nicosia last week was caused by a traumatic brain injury, an autopsy carried out on Monday confirmed.

The examination also found multiple injuries to his body.

The crash occurred last Friday on Griva Digeni Avenue in Engomi, when a car driven by a 23-year-old woman collided with the motorcycle ridden by Antoniou.

The officer, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Nicosia general hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
