Nine people were put at risk after a fire broke out in a house in Larnaca early on Wednesday morning, the fire service said.

The occupants managed to evacuate safely before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Firefighters responded at 6.02 am following a call about a blaze and brought it under control by 6.41 am.

The entire second floor suffered extensive damage, while the roof and the house also collapsed.

Andreas Kettis, fire service spokesman said, “All possibilities are being examined, with the most likely scenario being that there was an electrical problem.”

The nine occupants were examined at the scene by ambulance crews for possible smoke inhalation, while one person was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering a panic attack.
