A 76-year-old man died after being run over by a minibus on the Limassol-Paphos highway on Wednesday.

According to local media reports, the man was transporting a refrigerator which had fallen onto the road. As he stopped to move it, a passing minibus ran over him.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the tunnel on the road from Episkopi to Paphos remains closed in the direction of Paphos from the exit point of Kantou.

Traffic towards Paphos is being diverted towards the old Limassol-Paphos road, via the exit towards Kantou.

Police officers are in the area to provide assistance and regulate traffic.
