Arrested for attacking officers

Two 36-year-old men were arrested on Sunday evening in Limassol for allegedly attacking police officers and resisting arrest.
According to police reports, the incident occurred at around 7.45pm when the two men tried to prevent officers from putting out burning tyres. The officers had arrived at the scene after they had received a call that youngsters were disturbing the peace in an area in Kato Polemidia and had also set tires on fire.
Fire trucks also rushed to the scene. While the officers were trying to help put out the fire, the two 36-year-old men, approached them and asked them to leave it alone.
One of them allegedly threw a clay pot at the officers, and was arrested. The other man reportedly grabbed hold of the officer who arrested his friend by the neck. He too was arrested.
The two men face charges for disturbing the peace, assaulting officers, resisting arrest and trying to prevent an arrest.
