24-year-old to stand trial for speeding

A 24-year-old man will stand trial for traffic offences after he was arrested driving at twice the speed limit on the motorway on Sunday.

His trial is set for January 20.

According to police, the young man was arrested when found doing 207km per hour on the Larnaca Kophinou motorway instead of 100km per hour which is the maximum speed limit, at around 11am on Sunday.

The offender was taken to the police station, charged in writing and released. On Monday he appeared before Larnaca district court which scheduled the hearing of his case.

He was released pending the hearing.
