The health services on Friday announced one death from Covid and 466 new cases.
The cases include 216 people found positive from rapid tests and the remainder from PCR.
According to a statement, 198 people are being treated in hospital, 52 in serious condition and 30 of whom are intubated.
The total number of cases since March has reached 26,674 while Cyprus is now counting 141 deaths – 95 men and 46 women — attributed to Covid. The average age is 80.
The death concerns one man, a 93-year-old with underlying health issues, who was being treated at Famagusta Covid hospital. being found positive at a Nicosia care home.
Of the 52 people in critical condition in the island’s hospitals, 30 are on ventilators and four are being treated in ICUs without intubation. Eighteen people are in high dependency units.
Health authorities said the 466 new cases confirmed on Friday were from 12,831 tests.
Some 171 cases were detected among 875 samples taken as part of contact tracing while 44 cases emerged from 1,532 tests conducted by private initiative.
Four cases were found after 356 tests were carried out at airports.
Twenty-three cases were detected in 489 samples tested by state hospital labs and one case was detected in 37 samples from people referred by GPs.
Turkish Cypriots also announced eight new cases and one death on Friday, after 2,556 tests in the past 24 hours.
