Another 3,960 Covid vaccination appointments will be available through the government portal to people over 80 from Monday, the health ministry has announced.

People who qualify will be able to arrange their appointments online, either themselves or with the help of people from their home environment, the ministry said.

The appointments will concern vaccinations that will take place in the week of January 18-22.

“Vaccinations are continued based on the vaccination plan and on the availability of vaccines, as the strategy of the ministry of health focuses on the immediate administration of available vaccines,” the announcement said.

Since the start of the vaccination programme on December 27 until today, a total of 6,035 people have had the jab and they have made appointments for the second dose.

“At a time when the health system has to cope with the increased hospitalisation of Covid patients, prioritisation is aimed, on the one hand, at protecting the vulnerable groups of the population and consequently at reducing admissions and, on the other hand, in the shielding of the health system with the gradual coverage of front-line health professionals, both at Okypy hospitals and the private sector,” the ministry added.

Vaccinations are carried out by 11 teams of health professionals at a total of eight centres operating throughout Cyprus.

Anyone who needs support in booking an appointment should call:

17000 – For information of a technical nature during an appointment being made through the Gesy portal.

https://www.gesy.org.cy/

1474 – To arrange an appointment by phone in case people are still facing difficulties doing it online

The vaccination portal also provides for the possibility of arranging appointments through personal physicians.
