Coronavirus: 8,822 checks, 64 booked

Police booked 62 individuals and two businesses from 6am on Wednesday until 6am on Thursday in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

For the first time after a new lockdown was introduced on Sunday, less than 10,000 checks were carried out over a 24-hour period.

The total number of checks was 8,822. 2,151 were conducted in Nicosia, 2,458 in Limassol, 933 in Larnaca, 1,005 in Famagusta, 1,603 in Paphos and 506 in the Morphou district.

Traffic police carried out an additional 166 inspections and marine police 40.
