Coronavirus: 10,773 checks, 113 booked for violations

From 6am on Monday until 6am on Tuesday police booked 111 individuals and two businesses for violating coronavirus decrees,

Police said they had carried out 10,773 checks across the island.

Forty people were fined for driving without the required SMS permission, 26 for walking outdoors without permission, and the rest for not wearing protective masks.

The details by district:

Nicosia: 2,638 checks, 22 booked

Limassol: 2,178 checks, 51 booked

Larnaca: 1,462 checks, 12 individuals, one establishment booked

Paphos: 920 checks, 9 individuals, one establishment booked

Famagusta: 2,121 checks, 15 booked

Morphou: 836 checks, two booked

Traffic police conducted 516 inspections, the rapid response unit 73, and marine police 29. No offences were recorded.
