Coronavirus: record number of checks

Police booked 145 individuals including two owners of businesses for failing to comply with coronavirus decrees from 6am on Thursday until 6am on Friday, while carrying out a record 12,246 checks.

The details by district:

Nicosia: 3,200 checks, 40 booked

Limassol: 3,370 checks, 33 booked

Larnaca: 1,325 checks, 16 booked

Paphos: 837 checks, 14 booked

Famagusta: 2,103 checks, 31 booked

Morphou: 792 checks, nobody booked

Marine police conducted 52 inspections, the rapid response unit 34, and airports were also checked, but no illegalities were recorded.

Traffic police contributed with 533 checks. 11 persons were fined as a result.
