Coronavirus: New record for bookings

Police booked 169 individuals and one kiosk owner in the 24 hours until 6am on Monday for violations of coronavirus measures, a new record.

During this time, 11,806 checks were carried out in all districts.

Most people were fined for driving and walking around without an SMS permission and for not wearing a face mask.

The kiosk owner was booked for serving customers seated at tables.

The numbers by district:

Nicosia: 3,830 checks, 31 booked

Limassol: 2,276 checks, 70 booked

Larnaca: 1,184 checks, 19 booked

Paphos: 1,372 checks, 16 booked

Famagusta: 1,458 checks, 23 booked

Morphou: 1,244 checks, 2 booked

Traffic police conducted 419 inspections and eight people were booked as a result.

The highest number of people booked until this was reported on January 21, when 145 individuals and two business owners were booked in one day.
