Coronavirus: 11,528 checks, 128 booked

Police booked 128 individuals, including three managers of businesses, for breaching measures in place to curb the spread of Covid-19 during 24 hours leading up to 6am on Wednesday.

In total, 11,528 checks were carried out, 3,274 in Nicosia, 2,359 in Limassol, 1,432 in Larnaca, 965 in Paphos, 1,837 in Famagusta and 912 in the Morphou district.

27 fines were handed out to people in Nicosia. In Limassol 51 individuals were fined, in Larnaca 16, in Paphos eight and in Famagusta 24.

One person was booked as a result of 632 inspections by traffic police.

Marine police also contributed to the effort with 64 checks, and the rapid response unit with 13.
