Coronavirus: two deaths, 106 new cases announced on Sunday (Updated)

The health ministry on Sunday announced two deaths and 106 new cases of Covid-19 from 28,364  PCR and rapid tests with a positivity rate of 0.37 per cent.

The deaths concerned a man aged 80 and a woman aged 71. Both had underlying conditions and both died at Nicosia general hospital.  Total deaths stand at 199, 134 men and 65 women with an average age of 79.5.

There are 140 people in hospitals of whom 50 are in serious condition. Of these 24 are intubated and 18 are in ICUs

Of the 28,364 tests in the past 24 hours, 1,067 were PCR and 27,297 were rapid tests,

If the 106 new positives, 25 cases were from 284 samples taken through contacts tracing, 5 were from 401 tests taken on private initiative, 4 were detected in hospital labs, one case was found from 228 GP referrals, and 71 from rapid testing.
