Police find tobacco stash in pensioner’s home

Larnaca police found duty-free cigarettes and more than 12 kilos tobacco in the house of a pensioner on Tuesday.

Following a tip-off, in collaboration with the customs department police carried out a search in the apartment of the 73-year-old suspect in Chrysopolitissa area early in the morning.

Officers found 177 cartons of cigarettes, nine cartons with 90 electronic cigarettes and 51 packages with a total of 12,330 kilos of tobacco.

The man is expected to be arrested while investigations continue.
