Police carried out more than 10,000 checks in the last 24 hours to curb the spread of Covid-19 and booked 73 individuals for violations of the measures.

In total, 10,524 inspections were conducted, 3,337 in Nicosia, 3,267 in Limassol, 1,067 in Larnaca, 735 in Famagusta and 734 in Morphou.

Traffic police contributed with 405 checks, marine police with 31 and the rapid response unit with another 31.

A total of 29 people were fined in Limassol and 24 in Nicosia.
