A 66-year-old man has been remanded for four days in connection with the possession of a large amount of pesticides and refrigerant gas cylinders on Wednesday.

Police officers stopped the man’s car on the Pyla-Larnaca road at around 4pm on Tuesday and searched the vehicle.

They found 60 cylinders of refrigerant gas and 23 boxes containing pesticides, weighing 346kg in total.

The suspect, a resident of the Limassol district, was taken to Oroklini police station where he allegedly admitted he had brought the items from the north.

Police handed the case to the customs department.
