When it’s appropriate to walk away from a goal

In this video, business and life coach Tatev Petrosyan re-examines the subject of goals and the prevailing idea that we should stick to them, no matter what, once we have made the decision to undertake them.

The traditional argument for such a do-or-die approach is to build commitment, and to move towards a pre-determined idea of success.

And yet, it is worth asking yourself, she says, whether or not the goal authentically makes you come alive and inspires you, or if it is actually holding you back from opportunities that might have made your life far more meaningful and fulfilled.

Even more importantly, she continues, it is important to examine if the goal still fits the person that you are now, as opposed to who you were when you originally set it. Ultimately, people evolve, and goals can, too.
