Police launch seatbelt campaign on Monday

A week-long campaign will start on Monday for the use of seat belts and booster seats, police said on Sunday.

According to a police announcement, more than half (55,5 per cent) of people who died in road accidents in Cyprus between 2007 and 2019 – drivers and passengers – were not wearing seat belts.

“The seat belt remains the most effective safety feature in motor vehicles,” it added.

The aim of the campaign, which will run until Sunday, March 14, police said, is to raise awareness on the use of seat belts and booster seats and the reduction of serious and fatal injuries in road accidents.
