Second clean-up of Pedieos riverbed this Sunday

pedieos

Volunteers are organising a second clean-up in the Pedieos riverbed this Sunday following a first attempt to get rid of large amounts of trash illegally dumped in the area last weekend.

Organised by Save Your Hood initiative group, volunteers will meet at 10.30am at the parking of Strovolos municipality in Nicosia.

The event was announced on Facebook and is open to the public. Anyone participating must send an SMS for physical exercise to 8998 using the number 6 to excuse their movement.

Last Sunday a small group of Save Your Hood volunteers picked up large pieces of wood, plastic and other garbage from the riverbed.

Meanwhile, the agriculture ministry announced that efforts are underway to remove an estimated of 250 tonnes of rubbish dumped in the area from residents who refuse to use the district’s green points.
