The Junior Achievement Cyprus competition is a unique challenge that allows students like us to build our own companies and develop a product. This gives us an intriguing insight into the business world, teaching us creative thinking, problem solving, teamwork and many other significant skills. Through this programme we gain important tools that help shape us into the successful individuals that we want to become.

Two teams from Foley’s School are taking part in the competition: Brain Maze and Oculi.

Brain Maze is developing a game which educates children whilst they are having fun. It is also a great way for them to spend time with their loved ones. It contains a pack of cards featuring activities which range from environmentally friendly ones to exercise, arts and crafts and science. Our game brings together the non-virtual and the virtual as the children can track their progress on our website. Once they have completed all the activities on the cards and have recorded them on the website, they receive a well-deserved certificate.

The second company participating, Oculi, is manufacturing blue light glasses with lenses that block out the damaging blue light given out by digital screens. In this new digital era, blue light glasses are more essential than ever before. These glasses can ease digital eye strain, reduce glare, and increase the clarity of your vision. Additionally, they have been proven to improve and enhance sleep. Not only are they beneficial to you, but also to the environment as the frames are stylishly made of bamboo. This will help reduce our carbon footprint and help us fight global warming. Do you really want to miss out on this win-win opportunity?

We started this journey in December 2020, and we have already seen huge improvements in not only our business knowledge, but also in our communication skills, creativity and critical thinking. Inevitably, facing various difficulties, we were challenged to invoke our analytical and innovative skills, which allowed us to reach our full potential. Help us take our journey to the next level by supporting us on social media. Please contact us if you have any inquiries about our products. As Richard Branson once said, “a big business starts small”.
