The health ministry announced one death and 407 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday from 53,774 PCR and rapid tests, yielding a positivity rate of 0.7 per cent.
The death concerned a man aged 91 with underlying conditions who died at the Nicosia General Hospital. Total deaths now stand at 242. The average age of death remains at 79.
There are 201 people in hospitals of whom 46 are in serious condition. Of these, 19 are intubated.
Of the 53,774 tests, 3,742 were PCR and 50,032 were rapid tests.
The 407 positives are as follows:
- 125 from 834 samples taken through contact tracing
- 5 from 748 airport checks
- 75 from 1,690 samples taken through private initiative.
- 2 from 173 tests done through GP referrals
- 5 from 191 samples processed in hospital labs
- 9 from 374 rapid tests done at private labs and pharmacies.
- 186 from 49,658 samples taken as part of the health ministry’s free testing programme
Limassol was still leading the way in the highest number of positives found under the health ministry’s programme, clocking in with 99 of the 186 cases, and a positivity rate of 0.8 per cent, followed by Nicosia with 44 positives and a positivity rate of 0.2 per cent.
