Man remanded on suspicion of giving drugs to son aged 11

Limassol district court remanded a 44-year-old father for four days on Saturday for giving drugs to his 11-year-old son.

The man was arrested following a visit by the social welfare services in his house where they noticed the boy seemed to be unaware of his surroundings.

The house was untidy and unclean, media reported citing officials.

The service notified police while an ambulance was called and took the boy to hospital.

Doctors tested the minor’s stool and said they found traces of cocaine and cannabis in his system.

Police arrested the father, who according to media reports has a history of drug abuse.

First-degree relatives were assigned the temporary custody of the boy, pending a police investigation.
