With the cultural scene slowly coming alive, a varied programme of events is building up, with an upcoming festival set to bring classical melodies to Larnaca.
Concerts as part of the Larnaca Festival of Classical Music will take place at G. Lycourgos Theatre throughout April. The festival kicks off on April 2 with a chamber music concert by members of the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. The Wind Quintet will perform pieces by J Ibert, Arnold P Hindemith and C Debussy. This is the only concert that will begin at 8.30pm whereas all the others will start at 8pm. Tickets for all can be purchased at cyso.interticket.com
The concert to follow celebrates Cypriot composer Faidros Kavallaris with a contemporary music concert titled 70 Years. On the evening of Monday, April 5, Eva Stavrou, Christiana Thalassinou and Doros Zisimos will take to the stage performing pieces for the flute, clarinet and violoncello.
Five more classical music performances are on the festival’s agenda for April 7, 14, 17, 19 and 23 concluding with another concert by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra. On April 23, the orchestra will perform pieces by G Karvellos, P de Sarasate and WA Mozart in a programme called Across Europe, Across Eras to close off a month of classical music.
