Presidential aide taken to hospital (updated)

Head of the president’s press office Victoras Papadopoulos is in hospital after undergoing a cardiac catheterisation procedure.

Papadopoulos, according to an official statement, was feeling unwell and went to the Limassol hospital for a check-up.

After being examined, it was deemed necessary for him to undergo a cardiac catheterisation procedure. The procedure was carried out successfully early afternoon.

Papadopoulos is now receiving further treatment at the hospital. He is believed to have a pre-existing heart problem. His condition is out of danger, an official statement said.

He tested positive for coronavirus two weeks ago and was on his last day of self-isolation.
