Where do you live?
I live in Nicosia old town with my husband and family members, including our pets
What did you have for breakfast?
Black coffee
Describe your perfect day
My perfect day starts with writing, continues with painting and ends with music, not necessarily in that order
Best book ever read?
Lord of the Rings because it is a well-written, wise and imaginative story of courage in the face of fear. I love what Tolkien did with the hero myth.
Best childhood memory?
Eating mangoes in a tree on Grand Cayman. I was six and covered in sticky mango juice, my mother was not amused.
What is always in your fridge?
Salad greens, fish, chicken, wine, olives, dips, fresh veggies, I like a light diet.
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Jazz and any good music on the radio for variety.
What’s your spirit animal?
My spirit animal is classic – a black female panther because I often dream about her. She is a solitary survivor. Panthers are magnificent and complex creatures.
What are you most proud of?
Professionally: Sarah’s Jazz Club. Personally: my family.
What movie scene has really stayed with you?
A harrowing scene in Sophie’s Choice, where she remembers the awful experience of having to choose between her children in a German concentration camp. Because in life we can face tough choices.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
My husband Savvas.
If you could time travel when/where would you go?
The Roaring Twenties for some good jazz.
What is your greatest fear?
Authoritarianism, the loss of quality of life and civil freedoms.
What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
Stop smoking! (I gave up at the age of 25).
Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone
My husband 😊.
If the world is ending in 24 hours what would you do?
Organise a live jazz party with my family and friends for the last time.
