A boozy brunch affair

afterbite 2web

An upcoming event at Mason bar in Limassol will feature two elements; booze and brunch. What’s not to love? After months of wining and dining at home, many are overjoyed about eating out and trying all of the new dishes and flavours that eateries created during lockdown. On Sunday, a new street food hub will serve comfort food à la brunch style.

Afterbite opened up in Limassol just a few months ago, in December 2020. With their motto being ‘comfort food reinvented – honest good food’ they serve exactly that. Crispy chicken wings, mac n cheese, juicy burgers, jalapeño poppers and smore cookies among other bites. They work mostly with deliveries and take-aways but they were first introduced to the public at Mason Bar. This Sunday, they are returning to the Limassol bar to serve a tasty brunch menu.

Guest chef Ed Guk is in charge of Sunday’s menu, known at Afterbite as the Vice Chief Frying Officer. A recent graduate from Le Cordon Bleu, Ed worked at Lucky Cat by Gordon Ramsay in London before moving back to Cyprus. Here, he hopes to bring an exciting change to the Cypriot culinary scene by sharing his passion and love for the country he grew up in.

Sunday’s brunch in Mason Bar’s courtyard will kick off at 11am and will last until 5pm with a €25 brunch set menu. Yet a boozy, scrumptious brunch isn’t all that’s happening at the Mason Bar this week. On Thursday popular band Macumba will bring their Latin-Jazz sounds to the bar.

The four-piece band comprised of well-established musicians of the island will kickstart their performance on Thursday at 8pm, playing new original material and classic Latin jazz tunes. With a €5 cover charge, guests will be able to enjoy some up-beat funky Latin jazz melodies under the spring evening sky. All there is to do is to reserve a table in advance.
