Cyprus passport ranked 13th in the world

Passport

The Cyprus passport has been ranked 13th in the world in terms of the number of destinations its holders can access without a prior visa, according to the latest Henley Passport Index for the second quarter of 2021.

Holders of a Cyprus passport can travel visa-free to 176 destinations.

The rankings feature 199 passports. There are 110 places in the rankings, based on a ‘Visa-free score’.

According to their website, the Henley Passport Index “is the original, authoritative ranking of all the world’s passports according to the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. The index is based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) – the largest, most accurate travel information database – and enhanced by Henley & Partners’ research team.”

The latest scorecard placed Japan at top spot, holders of that passport being able to travel to 193 destinations without a visa. The Singapore passport came in at second place at 192 visa-free destinations, followed by South Korea at 191 destinations.

The United Kingdom occupied seventh spot, at 187 visa-free destinations. It shared that ranking with Switzerland, the United States, Belgium and New Zealand.

Greece (along with others) ranked eighth, at 186 visa-free destinations.

The lowest ranked passport was Afghanistan’s, its holders able to access just 26 countries without a visa.
