Fire at Marathounta landfill contained

A fire broke out at in the early morning hours of Tuesday in a landfill located in the Marathountas area of Paphos.

According to police, the fire service was alerted about the fire at 4.53am and two fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Chain vehicles were used to cover areas with soil to stop the spread of the fire.

The causes of the fire will be investigated after it has been completely put out.
