People with coronavirus will be able to vote in the May 30 parliamentary elections from home through mobile units, it emerged on Thursday.
According to an announcement of the central elections service, the chief returning officer presided over a meeting with the district returning officers regarding the elections.
During the meeting, they finalised the number of the polling stations, 1,150 in total. Ten polling stations will operate abroad: four in Athens, two in Thessaloniki and four in London.
The polling stations for the election of the representatives of the religious groups (Maronites, Armenians, Latins) will be finalised next week, right after the official submission of candidacies, an official announcement said.
The returning officers also carried out simulation exercises both for urban and rural areas in all districts to determine the number of special mobile polling stations needed based on epidemiological data. These mobile units are intended to help people with coronavirus vote from their place of usual residence.
The elections service also said that the screening of the candidacies, which will be submitted on May 12, is in progress, in full cooperation with the political parties.
