An inspection campaign in the manufacturing sector will be carried out in May, June and November to promote work safety.

“The aim of the campaign is to reduce the high rate of accidents at work in this sector, to take the necessary measures to protect the safety and health of workers and to ensure fair competition between companies,” the department of labour inspection said.

According to the department, the campaign was designed taking into account the main causes of work accidents in the manufacturing sector. The main causes of accidents at work include improper building installations, unprotected / exposed dangerous parts of machinery and equipment, fumes or dust of hazardous substances and a failure to apply protection measures while working at height.

The inspections will focus mainly on employers’ compliance with the relevant provisions of the legislation for the implementation of the risk management system and the measures they take to prevent the main causes of accidents.

They will also check the documented health and safety instructions as well as the implementation of measures to prevent the transmission of Covid-19.

For more information and clarifications employers can contact labour inspector Marina Kouyiali by email at: [email protected] or by phone: 22-405612 και 22-405615
