The interdisciplinary literature Sardem festival returns this year and invites writers, performers and artists interested in experimenting with words to be part of its 9th edition between September 23 and 26. The festival started in 2013 and presents artists’ work through hybrid acts and performances ranging from spoken word and live readings to visual poetry and contemporary dance. Besides presenting evenings full of alternative literary readings and interdisciplinary performances in different cities of Cyprus, Sardam festival also presents exciting creative writing and performance workshops, a writer’s residency, as well as parallel events and it’s now getting ready for its newest annual edition.

Writers and word-loving artists from Cyprus and abroad can submit their proposals to Sardam until May 31. In their email to [email protected] interested applicants should send a short biography no longer than 250 words, a photo, a sample of relevant work, video links of previous performances if there are any, or a website and a short description of their proposal for Sardam 2021.

Here writers should describe in detail how they plan to present their work and whether they will cooperate with another writer, artist or other professional. If proposing a collaboration, artists should also send a short bio, a photo and work samples or links of their collaborator(s). The festival may also propose collaborators from Cyprus for selected acts.

The applications will be evaluated by a selection committee that includes writers and artists from Cyprus and abroad with the results announced in June 2021. Priority will be given to applicants who haven’t participated in the festival’s previous editions, while some applicants may be offered a place for Sardam 2022 edition. All for the love of words.
